Trip to West Clear Creek

Yesterday Houston and I went on a little adventure... we woke up early and headed out towards Camp Verde to a place just north east of it called West Clear Creek. When we got there we had to hike down about 1 1/2 miles or so and let me tell you... it was some hike! It was straight down! Our legs were shaking non stop by the time we made it to the water. There was no one else down there and it was just the creek in the middle of this canyon. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect. The first time I caught one it was actually a decent size trout. As I was reeling it back in, it broke my line and took off. I was totally bummed but I ended up catching two more that I could pull out of the water. I felt really bad when I caught my first fish because I just hooked it in the mouth and I'm sure it hurt so bad! After that I didn't feel as bad when I caught them.
We probably fished for about 3 or 4 hours. We caught 8 trout but ended up throwing some of them back in. We packed a lunch and ate it down there and I was dreading the hike out. I thought I was in shape until we hiked our way out and I couldn't breath.

It was a great day and it was so fun to be able to spend the whole day with my husband. When we woke up today our legs were very sore but it was definitely worth it!

Our Birthdays

Houston and I both just celebrated our birthdays in the wonderful month of July! Mine was on the 4th and his was yesterday, the 15th. For my birthday celebration, we went out to Lake Pleasant with some friends on the 3rd to see some beautiful fireworks. It was such a great time and watching the fireworks reflect off of the water was just awesome! Then on my birthday we had a bbq at my parent's house and went swimming. We had a great time with our friends and family that stopped by. Then a few days later, Houston surprised me with a trip to Sedona to celebrate some more. I know my birthday was almost a week long celebration :) but we had such an amazing time on that trip. We stayed at the same place that we did two years ago on my birthday. It's a beautiful place and wow what a great view!

Then for Houston's birthday, we went to one of his favorite places which is called Greasewood Flatts. So many of our friends made it out there for it so it was a great time. We had a contest for who had the best western outfit on which made for some great pictures. Then him and I went out to eat to Houston's last night for dinner. It was such a perfect night because the food was great, the atmosphere was very intimate and we got to really enjoy our time with each other. We both had wonderful birthdays, so thank you to everyone who made it special for us.
